History: Paste papers, Kleisterpapiere in German, are one of the oldest forms of decorated papers. They were "developed" in German-speaking areas during the late 16th century, and used to cover books and as endsheets.
On this first members' day we will explore colour, pattern and layering that make great paste papers. It will be lots of fun. It will be messy and at the end of the day we will have lots of great papers to use in books yet to be bound.
Materials paints, paste and paper will be provided. You can also bring your own paper and materials. There are lots of resources and information online. However like all these techniques, it is getting in and doing it that makes the difference!
